Chennai, May 29, 2025 — Veteran Tamil actor Rajesh passed away at the age of 75 after suffering a sudden health complication. He was rushed to a hospital in Chennai early Thursday after complaining of high blood pressure, but was declared dead on arrival. Born on December 20, 1949, in Mannargudi, Rajesh began his career as a school teacher before stepping into cinema. He made his acting debut with Aval Oru Soorat Katha and gained fame with early films like Kanni Paruvathile (1979), Thani Maram (1980), Thai Pongal (1980), and Andha 7 Naatkal (1981). Over a career spanning five decades, Rajesh acted in more than 150 films, including Mahanadi, Iruvar, Virumaandi, Sarkar, Master, and Yaadhum Oore Yaavarum Kelir. He is survived by his children, Divya and Deepak. His wife, Joan Sylvia, passed away earlier. Rajesh’s body has been kept at his residence in Ramapuram for public homage. His sudden demise has left the film fraternity and fans in mourning.
