In a landmark move aimed at positioning Andhra Pradesh as a leader in artificial intelligence (AI), the state government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with global tech giant NVIDIA to establish an AI University in Amaravati. This strategic collaboration is designed to transform the region into a world-class AI innovation hub by integrating cutting-edge education, high-end research infrastructure, and startup acceleration programs.
As part of the agreement, NVIDIA will help train over 10,000 engineering students across Andhra Pradesh over the next two years, offering specialized curriculum, technical workshops, and hands-on exposure to real-world AI applications. The AI University will also be equipped with state-of-the-art computing infrastructure, including advanced GPU clusters and software platforms to support high-performance research and development. In addition, NVIDIA plans to establish multiple research centres focused on using AI to solve challenges in key areas such as healthcare, agriculture, education, and governance. The collaboration also includes the setup of AI Factories, dedicated innovation zones aimed at turning AI research into scalable industrial applications.
This initiative reflects the Andhra Pradesh government's broader digital vision. Minister for IT & Electronics and Education, Nara Lokesh, emphasized that the partnership is a decisive step toward building a future-ready economy rooted in innovation, entrepreneurship, and technological empowerment. Vishal Dhupar, Managing Director of NVIDIA Asia South, echoed this vision, stating that the initiative will democratize AI education and nurture the next generation of innovators and researchers.
This MoU adds to a string of recent educational and technological investments in the state, including partnerships with AWS, Microsoft, and the Wadhwani Foundation, as well as a ₹1,300 crore agreement with Georgia National University. The establishment of the AI University in Amaravati, part of the planned Knowledge City zone, underscores the government’s commitment to creating a holistic ecosystem where academia, industry, and governance converge to harness the power of artificial intelligence.
By investing in AI talent development, infrastructure, and entrepreneurship, the Andhra Pradesh NVIDIA partnership is expected to generate thousands of jobs, fuel tech startups, and provide AI-powered solutions that enhance public services and industry productivity across the state and beyond.
