The case of Raja and Sonam Raghuvanshi, a newlywed couple from Indore, has taken a tragic turn during their honeymoon in Meghalaya. Raja was found murdered, and Sonam remains missing, prompting a complex investigation.
On June 2, Raja Raghuvanshi, a 29-year-old from Indore, was found murdered during his honeymoon in Sohra (Cherrapunjee), Meghalaya. Raja's decomposed body was discovered in a gorge near Weisawdong falls, approximately 20 km from their last known location identified by a tattoo on his right hand reading "Raja. Police confirmed that Raja was killed using a 'dao' (a type of machete). The couple's rented scooter was found abandoned near Sohrarim, about 25 km from the gorge where Raja's body was discovered.Items such as a woman's white shirt, medicines, a part of a mobile phone screen, and a smartwatch were found near Raja's body but his wife, Sonam Raghuvanshi, remains missing, prompting concerns of abduction. A bloodstained raincoat was discovered near Mawkma Road in Sohra, intensifying concerns over Sonam's safety. The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) has joined the search operation, utilizing drones and a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to aid efforts. Raja's family has demanded a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) inquiry, expressing dissatisfaction with the current investigation.
According to India today, the clip which is surfaced onlin in which, Sonam is heard saying, "We're climbing right now... will talk later," to which her mother-in-law responded, "Today must be your fast". Sonam replies, "Yes, it is. But I won't break my fast just for this outing". The conversation continued with Sonam expressing discomfort about the steep terrain and poor conditions. "We're in a dense forest, nothing is available here. The climb is steep. I had told him (Raja) not to go, but he never listens. I'm exhausted. The food here isn't good either. It's hard to breathe while walking," Sonam said.
The case continues to unfold, with authorities intensifying their efforts to locate Sonam and uncover the circumstances surrounding Raja's murder.
