A money scam has left renowned TV actors Kunal Verma and Pooja Banerjee in shock after losing their life savings. The duo, who have worked in several Indian daily soaps, were swindled by an investment plan at the beginning of the year. The scheme, organised by an agent in Mumbai, guaranteed good returns and long-term financial growth. But after having faith in the scheme for months, the duo realised they had been cheated. The gruesome disclosure surfaced in early June 2025, when the agent ceased communicating and went silent on all fronts.

Trusting his professional tone and copious promises, the couple invested their entire savings money saved up over ten years of work in television in the scheme.

It wasn’t just about the money, it was about our future, our daughter’s future.” Pooja Banerjee added, “We were careful with our earnings, and to lose everything in one stroke has shaken us to the core.” The couple emphasised that while they are emotionally and financially drained, they hope their experience serves as a warning to others. We never believed this would happen to us, and now we would like people to double-check before putting their money in anyone's hands.
