Big news for WhatsApp users! The messaging app is finally testing a “Logout” option for phones, something users have been asking for a long time.
What’s Changing?
Right now, if you want to stop using WhatsApp on your phone, your only real option is to delete your account and that erases all your chats, removes you from groups, and wipes your data. Not ideal, right?
But in the latest beta version (v2.25.17.37), a new Logout option has been spotted in the Account settings.
How Will It Work?
When you tap on Logout, you’ll see two choices:
🔹 Keep All Data & Preferences – This logs you out without deleting anything. Your chats, groups, and settings stay safe. Just log back in with your number to pick up where you left off.
🔹 Erase All Data & Preferences – This clears your WhatsApp data like an uninstall but keeps you in your groups. Good if you want a fresh start without losing group access.
Why This Matters?
✅ Take a break from WhatsApp without losing your chats
🔄 Troubleshoot issues or switch accounts easily
🔐 More control over your privacy and data
When Can You Try It?
The feature is still marked as “Internal” in the beta release, so it’s being tested behind the scenes. It may roll out to some beta users soon and later reach everyone in a future update.
