India Successfully Tests New Long-Range Surface-to-Air Missile

India’s Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) successfully tested a new long-range surface-to-air missile (LR-SAM) today from a test range in Odisha. The missile, designed to enhance the Indian Air Force’s air defense capabilities, can engage multiple aerial targets at ranges exceeding 100 kilometers. According to the Press Trust of India, the test validated the missile’s guidance and propulsion systems under operational conditions. This development marks a significant step in India’s push for self-reliance in defense technology, aiming to strengthen its strategic deterrence amid regional security challenges. The LR-SAM is expected to be integrated into the Indian Air Force’s missile defense network by 2027.
