India Revises NEP 2020 with New Focus on Vocational Training

India's Ministry of Education announced today updates to the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, emphasizing expanded vocational training in schools. The revision aims to integrate skill development programs starting from grade 6, targeting over 50 million students nationwide. According to The Hindu, the updated policy mandates partnerships with industries to provide hands-on experience and improve employability. The government expects this move to bridge the gap between education and job market demands, fostering practical skills alongside academics. The changes also propose enhanced teacher training and digital learning resources to support vocational curricula.
