India Launches First Hyperloop Rail Corridor Between Mumbai and Pune

India unveiled its first hyperloop rail corridor connecting Mumbai and Pune on July 7, 2026, aiming to cut travel time from three hours to just 25 minutes. The project, developed in partnership with Virgin Hyperloop, covers 150 kilometers and is expected to boost economic ties between the two cities. According to The Hindu, the hyperloop system uses magnetic levitation technology to achieve speeds up to 600 km/h. Officials stated the corridor will begin commercial operations by mid-2027, marking a major leap in India's transportation infrastructure. This initiative aligns with the government’s vision to modernize rail travel and reduce carbon emissions.
